ULEZ zone map

Every part of London falls inside the ULEZ: all 32 boroughs plus the City of London, reaching out to the Greater London boundary. But the M25 itself sits outside the zone.

Inside the ULEZ£12.50 a day

Croydon is a London borough, one of 32, and the whole of it sits inside the ULEZ. If a vehicle fails the ULEZ rules, driving there costs £12.50 per day. Nothing is charged when a vehicle meets them.

The ULEZ area

Every London borough has been part of the zone since 29 August 2023. A place counts as inside when it belongs to a London borough. Nearby towns outside include Dartford, Watford and Epsom. Roads are signed at every point where the zone begins.

A much smaller central area, the Congestion Charge zone sits around the West End and the City. If you drive there during charging hours, you pay £18 in addition to any ULEZ charge.

  • £12.50a day to drive in, unless your vehicle meets the rules
  • 24 hoursit runs every day, but not on Christmas Day
  • All of Londonevery borough, though the M25 itself is outside
  • £180penalty if the day goes unpaid, or £90 when settled within 14 days

Does the M25 fall inside the ULEZ?

The M25 isn't in the zone, even on the stretches that pass through London boroughs.

If I drive into the ULEZ, what happens?
